Spearmint has been on the *to make* list for quite awhile. Because of the layers and coloring, it is more labor intensive than most of the other soaps I make. It kept being pushed back, until I finally broke down and decided to make a batch last night.
I decided to use a new pink color. Boy, it is PINK!
To save a little time, I decided to use a different layering technique than I usually use when making Spearmint. The soap started to set up pretty quick. Between dividing and weighing, and coloring, and hot lye... it was a crazy messy soap making session.
This is the end result-
I like it but will be returning to my tried and true spearmint colors and technique next time I need more spearmint! :)

#1 Honey (a personal fav) #2 Peppermint (as usual) #3 Oatmeal, Milk, and Honey
A few months ago I had a failed batch (overheated and separated). I rebatched it and forgot all about it. While cleaning out my curing racks this week I found the batch. The soap smelled wonderful (a scent called Green Irish Tweed, supposedly made for and worn by Cary Grant) but, like all rebatched and hot processed soap, it sure was ugly. I grabbed a bar and headed for the shower. Oh my, does this soap lather! Wow- lots and lots of lather! Loved the way it felt! I am thinking the hot processing somehow adds lather. Not sure how...but will be experimenting with this more. :)
I normally don't soap on Sunday- but I made a few batches after church (Mountain Forest, Lavender (and I put a lot of purple in it after my naughty grey batch), Saddle Up and Oatmeal, Milk, and Honey). I pulled out the Patchouli Swirl. I used a new mold with this one and the bars are pretty big!
Changing things up a bit and adding some new and exciting products! Yippee! :) Things may look funky for the rest of the day...
